An award winning writer, theater director and musician, REZA GHASSEMI is the director and composer of Moshtaq Ensemble. He started learning the technics of the Setar with Jalal Zolfonoon in 1973 in Tehran. Then he completed his studies with Mohammad Reza Lotfi. He also received the teachings of the late Ostad Ahmad Ebadi, one of the most important masters of Persian classical music.

He continued his professional life as a musician and composer while also being active in Theater and playwriting. One of his most notable works was composing and arranging of several pieces for the famous and best-selling «Gol Sad Barg» album with the voice of Shahram Nazeri.

Living in Paris since 1986, he founded Moshtaq Ensemble and started to collaborate with vocalists such as Mohammad Reza Shajarian, Shahram Nazeri, Bijan Kamkar, Mazhar Khaleghi, and Homa, and performed numerous concerts through out Europe, America and former Soviet republics.

His latest album "14 Cheerful Pieces" (Buda Musique, France) was released in October 2010, with the voice of Persian classical vocalist Sepideh Raissadat.
